Description: There’s more to wildlife photography than you might think. In this third episode of “In the Field with Donal Boyd”, Donal brings us along on a rare behind-the-scenes look into a cheetah conservation project at his favorite place to photograph African wildlife: Erindi Private Game Reserve in Namibia. During this short film, we’re quickly introduced to conservation biologist, Eli Walker, from the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), whom we follow, along with the conservation team at Erindi, on their mission to release 5 male cheetahs into the reserve. __________________________________ Cheetah populations across Africa have decreased dramatically over the recent decades due to climate change, hunting by humans, and habitat destruction. Founded in Namibia in 1990, CCF is an international non-profit organization dedicated to saving the Cheetah in the wild. The collaboration between CCF and Erindi started with the rehabilitation program where displaced Cheetahs are released back into the wild at Erindi, a protected nature reserve. Although effective at protecting the individual animals that exist at Erindi, which is nearly 5 times the size of Manhattan, it is only one part of the bigger picture for Cheetah conservation. If you’d like to learn more about the critical work of CCF and how you can support protecting and restoring Cheetah populations across Africa, please visit the link below.
